Questions

Browse the most common topics below.

Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone on your iPhone. Find Decibel Meter Studio in the list and toggle it on. Alternatively, tap "Allow" on the microphone permission dialog when you first open the app. Without permission, the app cannot measure sound levels.

First check your internet connection. Then fully close and reopen the app, and tap Settings → Pro → Restore Purchase. If the issue persists, go to Settings → Apple ID → Purchases on your iPhone to confirm the transaction. If none of this works, contact us with your App Store receipt.

Calibration lets you correct the offset of your iPhone microphone for a given environment. Go to Settings → Calibration in the app. Using a known reference sound source (e.g. a calibration device or reference meter), enter the difference value in dB. The app applies this value to all subsequent measurements automatically. Tap "Reset" on the same screen to clear calibration.

After completing a session on the Recording screen, tap the Share icon in the top-right corner. From the menu, choose CSV (for spreadsheet apps) or PDF (for reports). The iOS Share sheet opens — you can save to the Files app, send by email, or transfer via AirDrop. Export is available in the Pro version.

Decibel Meter Studio works on all iPhone models running iOS 15.0 or later. We recommend keeping your iOS up to date for the best experience. iPad support is not planned at this time.

The app measures with ±2–3 dB accuracy using the standard iPhone microphone. This may vary by model and environment. You can improve accuracy in professional settings by using an external calibration device. The app is not a substitute for a certified measurement device in legal or safety compliance contexts.
